Board of Trustees

Our lovely board members help keep Kaurilands awesome. They are a mixture of parents and staff, elected by our community as their representatives. They help with decision making and governance of our school. Board Elections took place in September 2022 for the 3 year cycle 2022-2025.

Welcome to the Kaurilands School Board page

On behalf of the community, the School Board is responsible for the governance of our school. The Board sets the school’s strategic direction and is accountable for the school’s performance. Our primary focus is ensuring that our children are continuously improving and achieving to the best of their abilities.

The Kauriland's Strategic Plan outlines the 3 year strategic plan that guides our thinking. Monitoring progress towards the goals outlined in the plan is a key focus for the board as is asking the hard questions to ensure we make the right strategic decisions for our community, our staff and our children.

Our Principal, Jo Augustine, is the Board’s Chief Executive and is responsible for the management of the school. The Board’s role is to support the principal as they work within the school’s policies to lead the strategic direction. If you wish to view our school policies please email [email protected]

The School Board meets on the last Tuesday of each month at 7.00pm, with the exception of the December Board meeting which will take place at 6.00pm on Monday 11 December.

2023 Board Members

Nick Summerfield

I have a daughter, Emma, in Year 5 and a son, Ben, who has moved on to GEIS after six and a bit years at Kaurilands. I’m a partner in a national law firm and in my spare time I enjoy running and travel. I’ve been on the board since 2016 and presiding member (chair) since June 2019. I enjoy being on the board and feel privileged to play a part in the Kaurilands School community.

Kia ora, I’m an economist and was elected to the Board in 2022. All three of our children currently attend Kaurilands School. A son in Year 5, one daughter in Year 3 and our youngest daughter in Year 1. I feel fortunate to have the opportunity to support the staff, students and wider school community in this role.

Trinette Giborees-Smith

Ni sa bula, kia ora tātou. Along with my husband Neil, I have been part of the Kaurilands School community since 2015 when our son Henry started. We currently have our daughter Charlotte in Year 5 and our youngest, Hugo, will start in Year 1 at the beginning of 2023. I am a local Property Valuer and active within the local business community. I feel grateful to the school for the education and opportunities my children have had so far and also privileged to be part of a team which represents the parents of our school on the Board of Trustees. I look forward to supporting the school and the wider community in this role. Vinaka vaka levu.
